Deals: What can I expect if I work with Poki? 🤝
If your game is a fit for the Poki platform, we will offer you an agreement. These agreements fall into two categories, Web Exclusive and Non-Exclusive. We will describe the difference between these two below.
Exclusivity on the Web
Poki prefers to work with developers on a Web Exclusive basis. That means that on the open web, your game will be published only on Poki. Platforms such as Steam and the mobile app stores as well as traditional consoles are not part of this exclusivity clause.
We do consider both Discord and YouTube Playables as web-based platforms, since they allow users to play HTML5 games directly in a browser (on the Discord web client and on YouTube). Because of that, releasing a game on those platforms would conflict with our web exclusivity policy.
By default, exclusive deals with Poki are set for 5 years. In return for the exclusivity, Poki invests additional time and resources into your game. Once your game is published exclusively, we support you with:
- Marketing and promotion of your game to reach 90 million players and beyond.
- Monetization through our top-tier ad partners and the best brand deals.
- 100% of the game’s earnings when you bring the player. For example, when a player searches for your game title in Google or a player lands directly on your game.
- 50% of the game’s earnings when Poki brings the player. For example, when a player reaches your game through Poki promotions or marketing campaigns.
Non-Exclusive Deals
Non-exclusive licensing options are available at Poki. In these cases, Poki offers a one-time flat license fee in exchange for your game. The added revenue sharing and marketing for Web Exclusive games does not apply to these deal types.
General Requirements
The Developer will provide Poki with the required compatible build(s) for the Platform(s).
The following requirements will apply to the Web. Parties will agree on separate technical requirements for any other Platform(s).
Game Development & Content
The Developer will be responsible for the development of the Game(s) and will implement the Poki ad SDK in the Game(s). Web best practices will be implemented according to Poki guidelines and requirements, under supervision of Poki.
If the Game contains any form of chat, user-generated content, or other ways for users to communicate or display content to others, such features may only be included with Poki’s prior approval. If Poki permits such features, the Developer agrees to implement any content moderation tools provided by Poki
The Game(s) may not include:
- Any promotions or commercial communication that is not approved by Poki (such approval to be withheld at Poki’s sole discretion).
- Any defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, inflammatory, racist, sexual, or otherwise illegal or harmful content.
- Any third-party plugins, tracking tools, or external services without Poki’s prior written consent (such consent to be withheld at Poki’s sole discretion). More information can be found at: https://sdk.poki.com/requirements.html#privacy-security.
Minimum Game Performance Requirements
The Game(s) must be fully responsive and support 16:9 aspect ratio across devices and should run at a minimum of 30 frames per second (“FPS”), with a target of 60 FPS, on the Supported Devices and Browsers under standard network conditions (e.g. 3G mobile data or better). The Developer will aim to keep the initial and full file size of the Game(s) as small as possible.
The Game(s) must be free of game-breaking bugs, including but not limited to player progress resets, game freezes, infinite loading and/or major UI/UX malfunctions. Any and all bugs will be properly and timely fixed within one (1) month following reports thereof, or sooner if reasonably requested by Poki.
Supported Devices & Browsers
The Game(s) must meet the Minimum Game Performance Requirements and perform reliably on a representative set of mainstream consumer devices, including, but not limited to:
- Mid-range mobile phones released within the last three (3) years, running modern Android or iOS versions; and
- Desktop/laptop devices capable of running a major browser version released within the past 12-18 months.
The Game(s) must meet the Minimum Game Performance Requirements and function without critical issues (such as crashes, major rendering errors, or input failures) for at least 85% of the users on each Platform.
