We fully encourage you to stay on top of current trends to create content that feels fresh and relevant for players. Being connected to what’s happening culturally is part of making great web games.

At Poki, we welcome trend-inspired games, but with clear boundaries:

  • ✅ Trends are great if they fuel creative, fun games.
  • ❌ Trends are not an excuse for rushed, low-effort, or repetitive content.

What We Look For:

  • The game still needs to deliver an enjoyable, polished player experience, even if some polish or depth may be reasonably sacrificed in order to quickly capitalize on the trend.

  • Trend-inspired content should add something unique rather than simply collect a bunch of memes, viral challenges, or popular tropes without meaningful gameplay.

  • We reserve the right to decline games that may function well but feel too derivative, lack originality, or do not contribute to Poki’s diversity of high-quality content.

Avoiding Oversaturation:

  • We actively manage the variety of content on Poki to keep the platform diverse and engaging for players.

  • If a genre or trend becomes too crowded, we may reject additional similar submissions to prevent audience fragmentation and performance drops across overlapping games.

  • Developers should aim to approach trends from fresh angles that expand and evolve the trend, rather than simply replicate what’s already widely represented.

Ongoing Collaboration:

  • We’re actively working on ways to share trend insights proactively with our developer community.

  • We’re also open to hearing directly from developers to help us continuously improve and fine-tune these guidelines around trends. As trends evolve, we aim to adjust our approach while balancing creative freedom with Poki’s long-term content diversity
